This series was done in collaboration with participants from Souphanouvong University in Luang Prabang, Laos, which saw them employ various tips and techniques we taught in order to conceptualise a social media campaign about causes they care about.

SU Zero Waste

Our social campaign "SU Zero Waste" advocates saving the environment by reducing litter and plastic wastage.

Boupha shared her woes of encountering litter across her neighbourhood and school compound, and decided that this was the social cause she felt most strongly for.

Through the campaign, she hopes to encourage her peers in Souphanouvong University to embrace a sustainable waste system and work collectively towards Zero Waste.

Our Future Needs Less Waste

“Our Future Needs Less Waste” was a joint effort by Aladin and Bounkeo that aimed to urge the Laotian public to reduce their plastic usage.

Initially, Bounkeo and Aladin pushed for different social causes - the former suggested a social campaign on improved parenting techniques whilst the latter wanted to touch on LGBTQ+ issues.

Both students were strongly passionate for these causes but eventually agreed on a topic both were happy to pursue together; preventing high plastic usage.

The project focuses on the extent of pollution caused by the use of plastics, with at least four million tonnes dumped into the sea each year, and suggests various ways for us to reduce plastic usage in our everyday lives.

Don't Choose To Abuse

There is a strong culture of Laotians who live near forested areas to engage in hunting near-extinct animals for livelihood purposes, and Ning and Thipphaphone were strong advocates of preventing bad and unsustainable hunting practices.

As such, “Don’t Choose to Abuse” serves as a call of action to these people to stop harming endangered animals, with the wild tiger and freshwater dolphin being two animal populations that have since gone extinct there.

This social campaign is an impassioned plea from two Laotian students who have firsthand seen the impact of these unsustainable hunting operations, wanting to educate the public on the consequences of their actions.

Giver Of Dreams

Our social campaign ‘Giver of Dreams’ was imagined by Weer, who was inspired after witnessing how difficult it is for many parents to support their children's education in Laos.

Weer hopes to raise awareness about the organisation which provides funding for underprivileged children to attend school in Laos.

He is also very passionate about empowering women through the organisation as many girls in Laos do not have access to education.

By targeting middle aged people and especially university students, Weer hopes that he can help support the organisation and impact the next generation through education.
