Our local service arm, WeeReach, started in August 2018 because students wanted ways to give back to the local community.
With more than 100 volunteers, WeeReach has expanded into three areas of focus: Connect, Communicate, and Contribute.
Through our weekly volunteering sessions with Jamiyah Home for the Aged and MINDSVille@Napiri, our volunteers are able to connect with our beneficiaries on a more personal level, while our social media campaigns enable our volunteers to help communicate our various partners' causes to a larger audience.
We've also begun introducing ad hoc volunteering opportunities to the larger student body, in the hopes that this one-time act of contributing to society can eventually inspire them to participate more actively in the community.
Jamiyah Home for the Aged (Darul Takrim) was established in 1996 as an eldercare and destitute welfare facility by the then-Ministry of Community Development with the appointment of the Muslim Missionary Society Singapore as the managing agent. The purpose of the home is to provide shelter and care for the residents, many of whom are elderly, frail and destitute.
With the easing of Covid-19 measures, we resumed physical sessions, befriending the residents with activities like trivia, game shows, arts and crafts, vibrant festive celebrations, and crowd favourite Bingo.
The weekly interactions and heartfelt conversations built genuine bonds between our volunteers and the beneficiaries, serving as a meaningful reminder of the tangible difference we could make to the lives of others when we make a concerted effort to spend time and interact with them.
MINDSville@Napiri is one of the residential homes run by the Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore (MINDS) that offers those aged six and above with intellectual and developmental disabilities a safe sanctuary, professional care, and protection.
With the belief that the intellectually disabled have the right to take their place in society just like any normal person, the home seeks to promote public awareness and acceptance.
With the easing of Covid-19 measures, we resumed physical sessions, engaging the children with art and craft activities, sports, music, Zumba sessions, dance sessions, and festive celebrations.
These sessions bring about an abundance of bright smiles, joy, and laughter from the children, staff members, and volunteers alike.
Samaritans of Singapore is a non-profit suicide prevention centre, dedicated to providing confidential emotional support to individuals facing a crisis, thinking about or affected by suicide.
Through the campaign titled “Dear Me”, our team sought to showcase mental health issues from different stories and perspectives, with the aim of encouraging our audience to feel self-empowered to carry on with the little things in life or the big major events that have shaped who we are today.
Safe Place is an initiative of Lakeside Family Services that offers counselling, temporary shelter, and other forms of support for unsupported expectant women.
Through our campaign “Unwavering”, the team worked on a series that shed light on unsupported pregnancies and the stigma surrounding it, with the aim of encouraging more people to show resolute support for those who need it.

Jamiyah Home for the Aged (Darul Takrim) was established in 1996 as an eldercare and destitute welfare facility by the then-Ministry of Community Development with the appointment of the Muslim Missionary Society Singapore as the managing agent.
Our volunteering programme includes befriending the residents and organising activities such as game shows, performances, arts and crafts and bingo, which adds some vibrancy to the elderly home on the weekends.
Due to Covid-19, our volunteers have done remote activities such as preparing activity booklets and filming videos for the residents, in order to maintain a relationship with them despite restrictions
MINDSVille@Napiri is one of the residential homes run by the Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore (MINDS) that cater to the needs of the intellectually disabled.
With the belief that the intellectually disabled have the right to take their place in society just like any normal person, the home seeks to promote public awareness and acceptance of people with intellectual disabilities.
Our volunteers have been regularly conducting Zoom sessions with the children on alternate Saturdays, engaging them with art and craft activities, singing, and dancing, albeit through a screen.
Founded in 1999, the healthcare provider has a full-time nursing home and 23 senior care centres dotted throughout the island.
Our volunteers conducted several Zoom workshops with the seniors from St Luke's, where we taught them the basics of photo editing and graphic design through phone applications.
Through these workshops, we encouraged them to share their creative works with friends and family, in the hopes of maintaining connections amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
Calm Collective Asia is a social enterprise founded in 2020 as a community response to Singapore's circuit breaker, with the aim of normalising conversations centered around mental health around Asia.
Through this collaboration, our volunteers worked on a series that shed greater awareness on the importance of mental health, with several pieces of light-hearted visual content aimed towards giving people encouragement.
HealthServe is a volunteer-run organisation that provides medical services to migrant workers.
Through our campaign "The Different Hats We Wear", our volunteers sought to showcase the various roles migrant workers have in their lives, with the aim of emphasising their individuality and humanity to our audience, instead of having them be seen as a faceless individual.

Our volunteers have been regularly conducting Zoom sessions with the children on alternate Saturdays, engaging them with art and craft activities, singing, and dancing, albeit through a screen.
Although Covid-19 dashed our volunteers' hopes of interacting with the residents of St Luke's ElderCare, we managed to kickstart a pen pal programme with seniors in their care.
Founded in 1999, the healthcare provider has a full-time nursing home and 23 senior care centres dotted throughout the island.
Despite not meeting face-to-face, over a quarter of our volunteers signed up and participated in this regular exchange with seniors from two of their centres.
Established in 2013, Causes For Animals is an animal welfare charity that advocates for animal adoption and humane stray management. To encourage more individuals to adopt shelter animals, our volunteers worked on a month-long social media campaign that aimed to help potential pet owners make more informed decisions regarding adoption, as well as highlighted stories of various shelter animals under their care.
The Humanitarian Organization for Migration Economics, otherwise known as HOME, was founded in 2004 to provide support for the migrant worker community. While many news outlets were reporting on the living conditions that migrant workers faced at that point in time, our team decided to humanise the migrant worker community in an effort to change the negative perceptions that some people have of them, while also bringing to light issues that often go unreported.
Muscular Dystrophy Association (Singapore) (MDAS) is a non-profit organisation founded in 2000 to provide care and support to people with Muscular Dystrophy in Singapore. Besides working actively to support medical research, MDAS provides health and public education on the condition. Our volunteers will be working alongside MDAS to raise awareness on the condition through the creation of a social media campaign.
Founded in 1948, Boys’ Town is a charity founded by the Montfort Brothers of St. Gabriel which serves both boys and girls, from infants to young adults. It aims to provide support and help for children and youths from disadvantaged and disengaged families who may have faced hardship resulting from difficult home situations, so that they become socially integrated, responsible and contributing members of society.

Through art and craft activities, sports, and music, our volunteers engage and challenge the children at MINDSVille@Napiri on alternate Saturdays.
To accommodate our growing number of volunteers, WeeVolunteer expanded its local outreach to a third home in 2019 — the Bishan branch for Lions Home for the Elders.
Initiated and established in 1980 by Lions Clubs of Singapore, Lions Home for the Elders offers a spectrum of Aged Care services, caregiver and family support to assist families to meet the challenges of loved ones growing old.
Befriending and engaging the residents with a wide array of activities and games, our volunteers bring joy to the elderly folks on alternate Saturdays.

Our volunteers plan tuition and creative writing classes to help residents with their school work. We also organise games and day camps for the residents to relax and enjoy during their school holidays.
Beyond Social Services is a non-profit charity dedicated to helping children and youths from less privileged backgrounds break away from the poverty cycle. They provide guidance, care and resources that enable families and communities to keep their young people in school and out of trouble.
Our team is currently working closely with Beyond Social Services to plan a social media campaign to raise awareness of the issue poverty in Singapore. We also provide manpower for various ad hoc activities and fundraisers that they need assistance with.
