Every night, the streets of Luang Prabang turn into a bustling mecca of noise and lights as street vendors line their wares at the night market.

From cheap souvenirs to even cheaper food, it seems like the perfect place to experience local culture.

But most people visiting the night market are tourists, and many things found here can be found in night markets around Southeast Asia too.

For locals, the day market is the more popular destination. Filled with a cacophony of various smells and sounds, the day market is where you will find all sorts of fresh produce and local food items.

It might be intimidating to some, especially if you’re not accustomed to seeing butchers chopping meat in front of you, or insects sold wholesale, but seeing Laotians shop here might give you a better glimpse into their lives.

Join us as we take you through the two markets and show you what makes each of them unique.
